As many of you will know, over a year ago we were required to vacate the original premises in Powell Road, where Kidzmania had been located for over 20 years, as part of the plans to redevelop the site. The new developers will build flats where the current warehouse building is and over the car park, but as part of that redevelopment will provide for us a space in the basement, ground floor and part of the first floor roughly where the car park is now. We had hoped that the New Kidzmania would be able to move into the new build by about Christmas this year(!), but for various reasons the developers have not yet been able to even begin demolition let alone commence the rebuild. We hope to be in at about this time in 2020.
In the meantime, we looked very hard to find alternative premises for a New Kidzmania, but unfortunately there was nothing suitable or available in the area, either on a short term or long term basis. Rather than close down, we have moved into the Church Hall at the rear of the old Kidzmania, which is smaller and less well adapted to accommodating a children’s soft play centre, but we are making the best of it that we can. There will be some further challenges ahead, particularly when the demolition does start, and we will lose the use of the car park and that entrance, so please bear with us for the moment. Hopefully it will all be worthwhile in the end!
We are fairly well advanced in our plans for the New Kidzmania. The new premises will be a little bigger than the current version, and part will be much higher. We are looking at the possibility of incorporating a small climbing wall, and will have a better area for the under threes. What would you like to see included?
